Having a fuse board replaced then Please ensure that this job is undertaken by a fully qualified & Insured
electrician who has experience in fuse board replacements. Jedi Services Ltd replaced a plethora of fuse board
over the years and Please ensure they are Qualified.
Sometimes it’s tempting to go with the cheaper option of
“someone knows someone who can do it cheaper” as the old adage goes,
“if its too good to be true” then it usually is and you are putting you, your family and your property at risk.
If they do not Test the Board after they install it and Provide Documentation of the Results, your Insurance will be Null and Void if a Fire Starts Due to their Negligence.
Please do not try to replace a fuse board yourself, it may look easy, just swap the wires across,
but please believe us, its not, changing over a consumer unit takes years of experience.
Before the Electrician starts to replace your fuse board and the price seems fine, ask if you will receive Paper Work,
once its complete if he says No show him the door.
Landlords Renting Out Properties

If your Fuse Board is not up to the requirement to lease out the property it:
- Will void your insurance
- Can lead to prison time
- Can lead to Fines
- Being sued
- If any deaths are caused by your neglect, you will be charged with manslaughter

Is it worth it knowing the above will happen, if you don’t have your fuse board upgraded, you will also have
the protection of RCD’s being fitted on your New Fuse Board?
What is an RCD on the New Fuse Boards?
An RCD, or residual current device, is a life-saving device which is designed to prevent you from getting
a fatal electric shock if you touch something live, such as a bare wire.
RCD Fuse Board
It can also provide some protection against electrical fires.
RCDs offer a level of personal protection that ordinary fuses and circuit-breakers cannot provide on old fuse boards.
What does an RCD do?
An RCD is a sensitive safety device that switches off electricity automatically on you fuse board if there is a fault
An RCD is designed to protect against the risks of electrocution and fire caused by earth faults and cuts
the power on the fuse board.
For example
appliance overheats causing electric current to flow to earth.
How does it work?
An RCD constantly monitors the electric current flowing through one or more circuits it is used to protect on your fuse board
If it detects electricity flowing down an unintended path, such as through a person who has touched a live part, the RCD will switch the circuit on the fuse board off very quickly, significantly reducing the risk of death or serious injury.

An RCD Protected Consumer unit
Can provide protection to individual or groups of circuits.
A fixed RCD provides the highest level of protection as it protects all the wiring and the sockets on a circuit and any connected appliances.
Remember – Although RCD protection reduces the risk of death or injury from electric shock it does not reduce the need to be careful.
Have your wiring checked at least once every 10 year to ensure the safety of you, your family and your home.
If you find a fault with your wiring, or an appliance, stop using it immediately and contact a registered electrician. Save our contact details to your phone:

Replacement Fuse Board
The UK standard for safety – Since July 2008 virtually all circuits in new or rewired homes have been required to include an RCD under the latest edition of BS 7671.
Below is a recent Fuse Board that we were asked to check and Upgrade it if we thought that it was Dangerous!!!!
If you click on the image below, you can see the before and after images, but I do not think much though was required, in saying that we see a lot of this type of so-called fuse boards, please if your fuse board looks like this get in touch.
